"Gek Sng Kio" Laksa

Or Sungei Road Laksa you can call it. My mom was like raving madly about this laksa stall that has amazingly fresh cockles. I'm not a big fan of cockles/laksa, however it's cheap lah. Big bowl of laksa for $2 ?!

There, Sungei Road Laksa. I've no idea why my mom called it "Gek Sng Kio" prolly 'cos it used to be at that street or something. But I heard that it was $1 per bowl.

The olden days, using charcoal to cook their food so that it will have more fragrant? I don't know what logic behind it but somehow slow fire cooking does make the food taste better.
And what's in my mind at that time was "WAH THAT UNCLE MUST BE REALLY GOOD IN SETTING UP FIRE DURING BBQ!!!!" Lol!!!!

We ordered $3 and they served a huge amount of cockles (hum). So much that we were kind of gross out.
They were using the traditional method of eating laksa. The soup base was definitely better than any other normal laksa store out there and it even beat the Katong Laksa. Seriously, I don't even find Katong Laksa nice, and why are they famous??
