braces or no braces?

Have a dental appointment tomorrow and going for an mouth X-ray (SCARY)
Should i put on braces ?? Oh man, having a hard time making this decision now. AND I NEED TO MAKE IT FAST ): I'm afraid of the pain .
Or should i just polish my teeth tomorrow and make it shiny white.

So... guys prefer straight or white teeth ?
